Chung Yan Ip Chair

Board term: 2011–present

Chung Yan Ip was appointed to the board in January 2011 by BCTF. He teaches English as an additional language, theory of knowledge and Mandarin in the Coquitlam School District.

Chung Yan has been a member of the BCTF Pensions Committee and the Teachers' Pension Plan Advisory Committee (a committee independent of the Teachers' Pension Plan) since 2008, and a member of the Coquitlam Teachers' Association Professional Development Committee since 2017.

He has also attended various pension workshops and completed certificates in pension fund management and pension leadership through the Advanced Trust Management Standards program of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP).

Chung Yan is a member of IFEBP and the Canadian Pension and Benefits Institute, and has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in arts, a bachelor’s degree in education and a diploma in teaching English as a Second Language.
