Responsible investing

Read about the approach to responsible investing that guides the decisions of the Teachers' Pension Board of Trustees and British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI).

Responsible investing is an important part of the plan’s investment approach.

The board and BCI believe that assessing and managing climate benefits and risk over the long term is fundamental to meeting the plan’s financial objective. This is the foundation of responsible investing.

The board and BCI also believe that strong environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices set companies up to perform better over the long term than similar companies with weaker ESG practices.
